MY CLASSROOM
As a high school special education teacher, in addition to teaching, part of my job involves hosting IEP (individualized education program) meetings and providing accommodations. With that said, I have a very unique setup in terms of a "classroom." I co-teach Geometry classes in my co-teacher's classroom and primarily use my classroom for providing accommodations to my students. My classroom is also the place where I teach a Geometry lab class, hold IEP meetings, and consult with students on my caseload. I have limited space and desks, however the design of my classroom works for the different purposes I require it for. This year I have another colleague sharing the room with me so our teacher desks are placed on opposite sides of the room. With my decor, I try to inspire students and share my athletic interests with them. Please click the individual images to find out more about what they represent.
My co-teacher and I incorporate activities, stations, group work, and presentations into the curriculum for our students to learn by doing. Geometry is very visual and we create hands on lessons as much as possible for students to develop their own understandings. We also utilize weebly for our Geometry classroom website.
